In Eden, God gave us the way of life that not only was best for us, but it also glorified His name. In continuing their discussion on God's health plan for this way of life, Dwight Hall and Danny Vierra make note that there is no record of illness among the Israelites when they were wandering through the desert. While they were in Egypt, their lifestyle reflected that of man and sin. While in the desert, God labored with them so that they would reflect Him. Yet, despite the hardships of Egypt, they murmured because they lusted after the fleshpots they experienced there. Unfortunately, that is our plight today. We want to live unrestrained lives regardless of the fact that it is literally killing us. In 1988, the surgeon general of the United States made this statement: "The people of America are eating their way to the grave." How can we glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31) if we are riddled with diseases related to a lifestyle that is alien to His guidance?
